A Week of Courage and Porridge!
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our assembly last week. We are bursting with pride! It takes an incredible amount of courage to stand up and speak in front of such a large audience, and the children handled it with such confidence. They truly did a fantastic job.
To continue our journey through The Woods and Traditional Tales, we have spent this week exploring the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Our classroom has been full of sensory fun as we’ve been describing the texture of oats, feeling how they change from dry and crunchy to warm and creamy porridge. Best of all, we got to enjoy a bowl of porridge ourselves; it was absolutely yummy, just like Goldilocks’ favourite!
Our learning also took an adventurous turn into Geography and Computing. We have been exploring maps to track Goldilocks’ journey and discussing how she found the bears' cottage. The children have been mastering new vocabulary such as “past", “across" and “through" to describe her path. We also talked about locations that were “near", the woods and those that were “far" away. We even put our coding skills to the test! After designing our own maps, we programmed our Bee-Bots to travel through the woods and past the park to reach their destination.
In addition to our classroom work, we took a special walk to the Upper site this week. We had the privilege of watching the Year 4 Marian assembly, which was all about the crowning of Mary. It was a lovely way to mark May, the month of Mary, and the children were very respectful as they learned about this important tradition. It’s been a busy, brilliant week of discovery and reflection!
