Year 4 Learning

On Thursday 3rd July, the children in Year 4 went to Nicholas Breakspear School to celebrate Mass, together with other local schools.  The theme of the Mass was 'Gift of Peace'.  The children all decorated a dove as a sign of peace and these were placed on a special tree.  Some children read Bidding Prayers and others brought up gifts for the Offertory.  The children sang beautifully and behaved respectfully throughout the Mass.

After the Mass, the children in Year 4 enjoyed a picnic lunch and they played 'football rounders' led by 6th form students at Nicholas Breakspear School.  It was a really fun day out and we were so proud of the way that the children behaved.  Thank you to the parent helpers who kindly volunteered to accompany us on this visit.

In Geography we have been finding out all about Rainforests.  We began by thinking about what we already knew and wrote some questions about what we would like to find out.  We have been reading a story called 'The Great Kapok Tree' by Lynne Cherry, which links to this theme.  The children enjoyed acting out the story and have been thinking about why the Rainforests are so important.
