Year 5 Explore the Animal Kingdom
What a wonderful and productive week we’ve had in Year 5! We have been exploring the fascinating world of the animal kingdom through science, computing and art, and it has been a real joy to see the children so engaged in their learning.
In Science, we studied the life cycles of living things. The children explored the different stages of development in mammals, birds and amphibians, and compared their life cycles. There were some excellent discussions about how animals grow and change over time, along with many thoughtful observations.
In Computing, we built on our understanding of life cycles by creating stop motion animations. The children planned each stage carefully and used their creativity and technical skills to bring their ideas to life.
In Art, we celebrated the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough. We learnt about his extraordinary life, his contribution to our understanding of the natural world and his role in raising awareness of climate change. Inspired by his work, the children created some wonderful portraits of him.
Overall, we have had a fantastic week exploring the world of the animal kingdom through a range of exciting learning activities!
